Fabiana Estrada, local team leader for non-profit Accion Miami, has been recognized with the Economic Opportunity Award by the South Florida Community Development Coalition (SFCDC).
I am very passionate about the work that Accion does for local entrepreneurs, so that makes my job enjoyable, said Estrada. I believe that by continuing to work together with the city and other key partners, we can improve the citys economy by assisting entrepreneurs and creating jobs.
Estrada was recognized for her excellent work bringing economic opportunity to families and neighborhoods in Miami-Dade during last nights SFDC Awards for Excellence in Community Development at The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse in the developing arts district of Wynwood.
Miami-Dade County, which has struggled economically since the beginning of the recession in 2007, is moving ahead due to the efforts of many individuals and organizations such as Estrada and Accion. Since 1991, Accion has provided over 2,000 South Florida entrepreneurs with small business loans and free financial education.
